Promoting self-sufficiency and independence remains one of the biggest challenges for disabled people. It is crucial to empower these people to lead more independent lives and a life-long plan must be made.
According to sociological indicators , on the Costa da Morte, in the district of Bergantiños, particularly in Carballo, the percentages of families with disabilities which have been planned by the association are slightly above the standards of the rest of Galicia.
Bearing in mind the number of children in the aforementioned areas who need special support in educational centres, taking into account those attending pediatric hospital services in A Coruña and Santiago, as well as the information available in the local services of different towns, and also the Dependency Law, it is clear that all the actions in this document are the most necessary to fulfill the gaps demanded by citizens and,in particular, by the partners and members that make up Aloumiños
