RETIMUR was born in 1990 in Cartagena. Its founder was Luis Berrocal, now deceased.
At that time this association was called ARPIMUR, Association of Retinitis Pigmentosa of Murcia.There was hard work for many years in order to make known a strange degenerative retinal disease that is named Retinitis Pigmentosa.
It was in 2009 when, being president Juan Antonio Carreño, the name was changed to the current one so as to include within our association many other retinal degenerative pathologies , which resemble the one mentioned above, are the gradual loss of acuteness and visual range.
RETIMUR is a non-profit association whose area of action is the region of Murcia and which aims to make these pathologies known among Murcia society , as well as promote the implementation of specialized units for monitoring and treating them. We also want to contribute to improve research in order to put an end to currently incurable diseases.
